Homeostatic balance

My first cover illustration of the new year was published on Tuesday in the Cell Metabolism (Cell Press) highlighting the beautiful research work of Isabelle K. Vila, Nadine Laguette and colleagues. I had a lot of fun working on this project because of its artistic freedom and the media I used (water colours for the centre pieces and vector graphics and photographs to create the backgrounds).

From the description: “…two koi swimming in a yin and yang pattern to symbolize the dual, negative feedback loop between STING and FADS2, which maintains homeostatic balance.”
